The Ascendant is the exact degree rising on the eastern horizon at the moment you were born, your first breath mapped onto the sky.
What it means
Also called the rising sign, the Ascendant shapes how you appear and how you begin. It is the lens through which you meet the world, distinct from the Sun, which is who you are, and the Moon, which is what you feel. It changes roughly every two hours, which is why an accurate birth time matters so much.
